As a father of two incredible kids, I am constantly doing battle with the ideas fed to them as mainstream and acceptable — from toxic gender stereotypes to mass-produced consumption addiction to the disappearance of our civil liberties.
The new building blocks are made up of post-9/11 vocubulary words, the repetition of propaganda phrases, the images of brutality shown so often we become desensitized to them.
This series explores the lessons we are teaching our children, the inheritance we are passing on to them, and the attempts to create a generation of unquestioning patriots . The government has made sure that no child is left behind in its war of terror on every social institution. The prevalence of war-mongering propaganda that has infected our daily lives so as to seem harmless will live within and among us long after (and only if) the US ends its occupation of Iraq. This will not just go away.
